Buy local, the wisdom of keeping our tax dollars within your own
community is nothing more than simple math.
Since dollars spent locally circulate more than seven
times (through grocery stores, daycares, banks, and other retail
establishments) before leaving the community, buying locally allows
businesses to donate dollars, products and services for schools,
youth sports, charities, etc.
More local dollars helps create a vibrant shopping
and business area that attracts visitors and potential residents.
Utilizing local vendors saves local businesses time, effort and
money by eliminating the need to travel outside of town. It helps
maintain local employment for friends, neighbors and family members
and it expands the local tax base that positively affects municipal
taxes.
Toward that end, the JCCA has partnered with the Greater Jackson
Chamber of Commerce to create a “buy local” campaign
to educate public officials and others about the importance of considering
local sources first.
